Life in Nanchuan, Chongqing village
The villages around Nanchuan are still deeply connected to the mountains. For generations, people here have relied on the forest for daily life — harvesting bamboo shoots, collecting wild vegetables and herbs, and walking these mountain paths as part of their routine.
The handmade bamboo ladders on this trail weren’t built for adventure. They were built because people needed a way to move through the mountains — and many are still used today.
A Trail Loved by Local Hikers
Among Chinese hikers, this is one of Chongqing’s most iconic mountain routes — not
because it’s the highest or the hardest, but because it brings together dense forests,
handmade bamboo ladders, dramatic cliffside trails and the mountain culture that still
exists today.
If you want to understand the real Mountain City, this is one of the best places to start.
